Remedial Massage in Buckinghamshire

Remedial massage is the movement of soft tissue with therapeutic intent. It requires the systematic working of muscles and the soft tissues of the body to optimise the functions of various bodily systems.

Remedial massage therapy eases the pain and discomfort of injuries, strains, accidents and illness to allow the body's natural healing processes to work most effectively. In particular, Remedial Massage addresses specific problems in the muscle tissue, tendons and ligaments.

Massage therapy assists in restoring the normal functioning of muscles, nerves, circulatory, skin, connective tissue, digestive and lymphatic systems, enabling the body and mind to heal itself.

Massage is the systemic and scientific manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. Regardless of the individual touch developed by the massage therapist, these manipulations will be gliding, percussing, compressing or vibrating in nature.

Soft tissue techniques are becoming increasingly popular in the treatment of general muscular pain and tension. The majority of neck pain and tension headaches can be given dramatic relief with an appropriate application of therapeutic massage. These particular problems may be caused by a number of factors such as anxiety, stress, over-exertion, whiplash or postural faults resulting in muscle tension and contraction in the neck, shoulders and/or various head areas. A vicious cycle of tension, ischaemia (reduced blood supply) and pain, produces a characteristic, steady, non-pulsating ache. Therapeutic massage will often act to effectively interrupt the "pain cycle" by relaxing muscle tightness and restoring blood flow and normal mobility to the tissues.

Activating the immune system towards self-healing is one of the primary focuses and benefits of massage. Mechanically, massage assists the venous flow of blood, encourages lymphatic flow, reduces certain types of oedema, provides gentle stretching of tissue and relieves subcutaneous scar tissue.
